Live Nativity will be Dec. 12, 13 & 14
We will have a planning meeting Wed. Oct. 9th at 5:30 at the church. Please come and help plan Live Nativity 2013.
If you would like to be a participant in one of this year’s scenes or volunteer in any way all you have to do is sign-up. Children must be accompanied by a parent. It is a wonderful time of witnessing to our community and fellowship with your church family. Volunteers provide excellent food, soups and hot / cold drinks for the participants every night. In 2006, our church started a Live Nativity Ministry. It started with an idea that lead to the creation and construction of the sets. We are very lucky to have members that are talented enough to not only sew but also hand-paint the large canvas back-drops for each scene. This task requires a large group of people who are of able body to set up, maintain and light the displays (and) finally take down and store the sets at the end of the last performance. Yet even a larger group of people are required to fill all of the performer slots for each set every night of the performances. We have live animals and beautifully detailed scenes for the major moments in Jesus’ life.
This ministry is definitely a labor of love. Each year that we have provided this ministry we have seen growth in the numbers of cars that drive through our parking lot. We provide a written handout of the program that tells the story of Jesus Christ as well as a CD that tells the details of each scene with a musical backdrop. It is a joy to provide this form of outreach to our community. It is an added bonus that our church family enjoys the fellowship with each other while doing God’s work.
